Hi,

I downloaded all the files necessary for the update, and completed installation.

I certainly fully - charged uboom L.

I opened the upgrade tool and tried to connect the uboom l device, but nothing happened.

The tool application can't detect any device .

I tried with several usb 3.0 data cables, and other usb ports. I even tried with my desktop pc and notebook.

It's not working on both computers.

I don't know how to solve this problem.

Hi friend,

Thanks for choosing EarFun. Sorry to hear that.

We kindly suggest you uninstall the installation tool and download it again and try another device to upgrade the firmware.

Update Notes:

1. Please fully charge the speaker first. (If the speaker is not fully charged and plugged into the laptop, insufficient power supply will cause the update to fail.)

2. Please use the USB 3.0 cable with data channel to update the firmware (the included cable and the USB 2.0 cable don't work).

3. Press and Hold the “Bluetooth button” , and then plug in the USB-C cable with UBOOM L.

4. Place the speaker on the desktop, do not move the speaker or the cable while updating.

5. If the update is unsuccessful, please try again a few times.

Hope the above suggestions work.

Sincerely,

EarFun Customer Service Team

I also sent E-mail to customer service about this, they told me to use it anyway, it wasn't any helpful and the customer service was irresponsible.

Did you load the new firmware in the tool first? The manual doesn't mention it, but it seems to be needed.

When I opened the tool the first time, a new window opened to load new firmware, as the manual didn't mention this, I closed this window. When I connected the speaker nothing happened. After first loading the new firmware in the tool, the speaker was immediately detected.

I'd just like to  add a note  for anyone still having this problem.

I was able,  after many tries and feeling like it was a fluke, to  get the first firmware update loaded, but in no case could make the connection work later,  for the 0.4.5 firmware.

To cut to the chase, it seems tto have been the cable, as even the cable from my iPad would not work.

I ordered a 5GHz-capable cable from Amazon, and  on the first try with it, the problem vanished. The update worked easily this time and felt solid.

I might mention that I also added a  UGREEN quality four-way hub, so I could power with a charger if that was the issue with my aging laptop's USB-3 port, but I don't think that was necessary. There are a lot of funny technical things about USB-C cables, and probably more when it's an adapter also to USB-3.  Getting a short well-reviewed cable, CableCreation 1.0m/3ft, did the job.

The firmware 0.4.5, interestingly different, and I think again better. It has that quality sound of Oluv's work, even better to hear  on the mids and highs, and seems it may have been tweaked to give a  slightly more forward soend on the outdoors option. Both are a pleasure to  listen to, on a wide range of music, and worth the trouble to get this fresh upgrade to work, opinion here :)
