I have Earfun pro 2 earbuds those have in debian 12 linux High Fidely Playback (A2DP sink, SBC (XQ) with good stereo sound quality.

But my new Earfun pro 4 only connects as a headset HSP/HFP  (CVSD/mSBC)  terrible mono audio connection.

Disconnecting / removing en re-pair does not solve the issue .

How do i connect with my earfun pro 4 in a high fidelity audio profile mode in debian 12 linux, the same as with my  earfun pro 2?

My  sony WH-1000XM5 connect also with HIFI audio profile.

Why is the setup of the pro 4 so much more difficult than the pro2 earbuts i was expecting that with bluetooth 5 support the bluetoth connection would be simpler?

fwiw, I have a Creative BT-W5 USB-C dongle (AptX adaptive) and a Floogoo FMA120 USB-A dongle (AptX adaptive, lossless, AptX Voice, LC3, Auracast), and both of them work for me with Ubutnu 24.04 LTS and Windows 11, and they work better than the built-in Bluetooth stack..

They also work with Anroid (Pixel 8 Pro in my case) -- the Creative is USB-C, so just plug it in, and the Floogoo is USB-A and needs a C-to-A adapter. In both cases they  add newer AptX codecs the Pixel doesn't currently support (as it isn't Qualcomm Snapdragon based)

Moving the dongle between computers also means reconnecting buds is easier.

Just saw another dongle available as well, the Fiio BT11.

Cheers
Dave
